Compliance · governance & controls

Research you can stand behind.

Rigorous research is a governance problem, not just a math problem. VertiMax is built so that data lineage, model documentation, and audit trails are part of the process — not a scramble at the end of it.

§01 · Principles

Four commitments, built into the platform.

01 / LINEAGE

Every number in the platform carries its provenance — which dataset version, which cost model, which code — so "where did this come from" is never a mystery.

02 / REPRODUCIBILITY

A result that can't be reproduced by an independent party isn't a result. Versioned data and deterministic replay make reproduction the default.

03 / ACCOUNTABILITY

Role-based access and an immutable audit trail mean every change has an author, a timestamp, and a reason — the way regulated environments require.

§02 · Controls

The control surface.

A representative view of the controls we operate. Frameworks differ by jurisdiction and mandate; we align to the frameworks our clients are subject to, and document the mapping.

Control domainWhat we do
Data lineageEvery dataset is versioned and timestamped; research references exact versions, so results can always be traced to their inputs.
Access controlRole-based access with least-privilege defaults; separation between research, production, and administrative roles.
Audit loggingImmutable logs of who changed what and when, retained and exportable for review.
Model documentationMethodology, assumptions, and limitations documented alongside every model and strategy.
Change managementPromotions from research to production follow a defined, reviewed path — no silent edits.
Vendor & data riskThird-party data sources are assessed and their ingestion is versioned and monitored for drift.
Incident responseDefined escalation and notification procedures for data or platform incidents.
§03 · In practice

What this looks like day to day.

For research

An analyst never works on a dataset they can't pin down, and never publishes a number they can't reproduce.

  • Pinned data and code versions on every run
  • Point-in-time restatement on demand
  • Deterministic, replayable backtests

For risk & compliance

The team that has to answer for the numbers gets the evidence without asking IT for a favor.

  • Exported audit trails and lineage reports
  • Documented model methodology
  • Attribution that reconciles to the blotter
§04 · Important notice

What we are — and what we aren't.

Disclosure

VertiMax is a research-technology provider, not an investment adviser, broker-dealer, commodity trading advisor, or fiduciary, and is not registered as any of the foregoing. We do not manage capital, provide investment advice or recommendations, or execute trades on anyone's behalf. The platform provides software and data infrastructure for quantitative research; any investment decision remains solely with the user and is made at their own risk. Nothing on this site — including research notes, example backtests, and illustrative metrics — constitutes an offer, solicitation, or investment recommendation.

Hypothetical & backtested results

Backtested and hypothetical performance shown on this site is prepared with the benefit of hindsight and is inherently limited: it does not reflect actual trading under real market conditions, cannot account for live liquidity, execution costs, or the decisions a real allocator would have made, and is subject to survivorship bias, look-ahead bias, and overfitting even when built to resist them. Hypothetical results are not a reliable indicator of future results, and actual results will differ — often materially.

No fiduciary or advisory relationship

Use of the VertiMax platform does not create a fiduciary, advisory, or client relationship of any kind. We do not assess the suitability of any strategy for any user, do not provide tax, legal, accounting, or regulatory advice, and are not responsible for losses arising from the use of our tools or from errors or omissions in any data we distribute. Market data is provided as-is and may be incomplete, delayed, or inaccurate.

Risk of loss

Quantitative investing involves substantial risk, including the possible loss of principal. Users are solely responsible for understanding those risks, for validating the data and models they rely on, and for complying with the laws and regulations applicable to their own trading. If you do not understand an instrument or a result, do not trade on it.
